Sunday School Musical“Inspirational, good values, teens having fun!”DVD released October 21 2008.
Teen musical has all the right moves! SUNDAY SCHOOL MUSICAL finds two competing groups of high school students rallying together to enter a song-and-dance competition to try to save their youth center from closing. It's a down-market Christian version of the secular High School Musical 3, but as long as you don't expect too much you should enjoy it. Director Rachel Goldenberg said the film is “fun, wholesome family entertainment.” The 21 songs are great, and some are very catchy. And the kids have good values — something that Hollywood usually ignores. If you're tired of films that portray teens as vegged-out, lazy, self-centered and unintelligent, Sunday School Musical may be a refreshing change. But it's low-budget, so don't expect the high quality you would find in a Disney film for instance. Here are some photos from Faith Films and Arts Alliance America. (Also see the YouTube trailer, hear the opening song, the final song, and a beautiful version of Be Thou My Vision. These kids can really sing!) You can order the DVD from the Arts Alliance America DVD store for $19.95.
Sunday School Musical stars Candise Lakota as Savannah, Dustin Fitzsimons as Charlie, Cecile del Rosario as Laura, Shane Carther Thomas as Jake. Also starring Mark Hengst, Shari Emami, Justin Spanko, Tom Nance, Chris Chatman, Amy Ganser, Krystle Connor, Kesha Ealy, Cliff Tan, and Robert Acinapura.
