Inventors turn to God's creation for ideas
A type of glue that was designed to mimic the stickability of gecko feet is 10 times stickier, Reuters news service reported on October 9, 2008.
Yet the glue can be lifted and reapplied easily. Apart from helping people walk up walls, the glue could be used in electrical components without soldering, and a host of other uses. The glue uses a layer of thin filaments of carbon molecules attached to curly strands of carbon that expand the surface area of the glue's gripping action. It's a great invention, but God invented it first. Self-cleaning paint?Paint makers in Germany produced a house-paint called Lotusan that cleans itself — because it uses the self-cleaning secrets of the white lotus flower. The white lotus grows in swamps, but is regarded as a symbol of purity because it remains so white.
Lotusan paint uses a similar rough surface to keep itself clean, but God had invented the idea first. Dolphin flippers and turbine blades
“The shape of whale flippers with one bumpy edge has inspired the creation of a completely novel design for wind turbine blades,” the article said. This design was more efficient and also quieter, but it defied traditional engineering theories. Again, God invented the idea first. Creator's amazing ideasHypodermic needles are modeled after snakes' fangs. Full-color displays for e-readers were inspired by the iridescence of butterfly wings. And Velcro was based on the same principle as burs that stick to your clothes when you walk through a field. God invented these ideas first — humans just try to replicate them. Engineers from water treatment plants are studying mangrove trees that turn salt water to fresh water. A tree has even been found that turns dirty water into clean water instantly. Manufacturers of hearing-aids found a parasitic fly with amazing hearing abilities that they suspected may lead to better hearing-aids. Mussels that stick to ships and piers are providing ideas for a new water-resistent glue, and LiveScience reported on January 18, 2010 that researchers were studying an unusual sea snail that may help them develop better body armor for soldiers. God invented all these ideas first. Wherever you look in nature you find clear evidence of the Creator's extraordinary intelligence and design. The branch of science that deals with the study of technology that imitates nature is known as biomimetics. Very knowledgeable and highly paid scientists and inventors are looking to nature to improve their products through biomimetics. Just as the glues and the hearing-aids and the Lotusan paint and the rest could not appear without intelligent input, to say that their even more intricate “natural” models evolved — without any intelligent input — is surely one of the most surprising errors anyone could make. While atheistic scientists try to stifle any suggestion that intelligent design is scientific, others are improving products for humanity by studying the clear design they see in nature!
