Government logic: Let's spend trillions of dollars on climate change policies that will do nothing to alter temperatures.

FORMER PRESIDENT Bill Clinton noted in his speech to the Gridiron Dinner on March 20, 2010 that it was the start of spring, “otherwise known to Al Gore as proof of global warming.” (See Wall Street Journal, March 21, 2010.)

We are not climate change deniers, because we know the climate is always changing. But we don't believe humans are causing catastrophic global warming or catastrophic climate change, any more than humans were the chief cause of the Ice Age. Let's say we are legitimate doubters of significant anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming (AGW).

In fact, Professor Phil Jones, director of the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit in Britain (who was pressured to resign after the 2009 Climategate scandal, but was reinstated in July 2010), conceded that the earth could have been warmer in medieval times, and a study published in 2012 pretty much confirmed this. This would mean:

  1. Human activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation did not cause warming in the past so are not necessarily causing catastrophic global warming now.
  2. The earth can recover quickly from warming with no human help. (Medieval warming was followed by a mini ice age from around AD 1400 until about 1850.)

And remember, the earth became warmer after the Ice Age without today's nasty humans using fossil fuels and felling forests. But it got cool again, with no-one protesting and no-one paying climate taxes.

The earth gets warmer, the earth gets cooler. That's nature. And that's climate change.

FOLLOWING is a small sample of articles and news reports on global warming, old and new. We list these links to show the global warming debate is not settled, and a lot of what you hear from global warming alarmists is not even true.
