Six myths about Christianity. |
|
6 myths about ChristianityHere are six common beliefs about Christianity. Each of them is wrong. 1. There is no evidence for Christ's Resurrection False! Non-Christians sometimes say there is no evidence that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. But apart from the eyewitness accounts recorded in the Bible to attest to the Resurrection, a professor of philosophy has used a probability formula to weigh evidence for and against Jesus Christ's Resurrection — and says the probability of the Resurrection comes out to be a whopping 97 per cent! See the article New evidence for Christ's Resurrection
2. Charles Darwin had a deathbed conversion and rejected his theory of evolution False! Many Christians think Charles Darwin renounced his theory of evolution and converted to Christianity before he died. But thorough research has found no backing for this claim. See the article Did Charles Darwin reject evolution before he died? 3. There is no worldly advantage in becoming a Christian False! It may be hard to believe, but many studies have shown that people who regularly attend church are more likely to have better health and to live longer than non-churchgoers. Being a conservative Christian can also boost your career prospects and prosper your business. See the article What are the advantages of being a Christian? 4. Christianity hasn't done anything particularly good for the world False! While evolution's philosophy of “survival of the fittest” has brought overwhelmingly harmful movements such as Nazism, Stalinism, and eugenics, Christians following Christ's teaching of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” have established hospitals, welfare agencies, orphanages, charities, relief agencies, universities … and fought for prison reform, abolition of slavery, better education, and treatment for alcoholics. See the article What good has Christianity done? 5. The Shroud of Turin has been proved to be the cloth that covered Christ at His burial False! Some people believe there is indisputable proof that the Shroud of Turin is the cloth that covered Jesus Christ during His burial. This is not so. There are strong biblical and scientific reasons why it may not be a cloth showing an image of the body of Jesus Christ. See the article Is the Shroud of Turin a fake? 6. No one can know how to get to Heaven False! Agnostics and various uninformed people say it is impossible to know how to get to Heaven. But the Bible explains quite clearly how you can be certain you will go to Heaven when you die. Millions upon millions of Christians know the answer. See the article How can you know you will get to Heaven?
