Sojourners takes $325,000 from leftist atheist
(August 27, 2010)
Critics have hit out at the “social justice” Christian group Sojourners and its leader Jim Wallis for accepting funding from a leftist atheist billionaire, OneNewsNow reports. Wallis has said in the past that Sojourners did not receive funding from atheists, but he later issued a statement confirming there had been at least three grants from George Soros totaling about $325,000. Wallis has received increasing criticism over his association with President Obama and the left, because of their position on abortion, gay marriage, and other issues that orthodox Christians generally oppose.

Billboards expose racial elements of abortion
(August 26, 2010)
Two pro-life groups have organized a billboard campaign that exposes racial elements behind abortion and adoption. The Black and Unwanted campaign reveals abortion's destruction in the black community while highlighting the need for more adoptions. In Texas, abortions on black women comprise nearly 25% of all state abortions even though black women constitute only 12.7% of the female population of childbearing age. Some babies die by chance. No baby should die by choice!

Film director runs from climate debate
(August 25, 2010)
Film director James Cameron recently backed out of a debate on global warming that he had instigated. Cameron, who directed Titanic and Avatar, was scheduled to debate new media entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart, filmmaker Ann McElhinney, and ClimateDepot.com executive editor Marc Morano with two scientists at a global warming and energy conference in Aspen, Colorado. Morano said Cameron had got out of his depth — giving the standard Al Gore nonsense about global warming alarmism. As soon as people started standing up to him, Cameron high-tailed it out the debate.

Couples sue doctors for failing to detect Down syndrome child
(August 20, 2010)
Two couples in Australia are suing doctors who did not detect Down syndrome in their unborn babies, thereby preventing them from aborting the babies. The father of one of the girls said he loves his daughter and treats her like gold, according to the Christian Examiner. Other parents of Down syndrome children are appalled at the parents' actions. One critic said: “You love your daughter and treat her like gold, yet had you known she was Down Syndrome before you had her, you would have killed her? That makes me sick.”

Christians denied foster kids over their view of homosexuality
(August 20, 2010)
A Christian couple in the United Kingdom who had been told they were “ideal” candidates for adoption have been denied the opportunity to foster because they did not want prospective same-sex adoptive parents coming to their home. They told Lancashire County Council that they would allow a homosexual seeking adoption to visit alone, but they did not want a same-sex couple visiting because it would confuse their 5- and 7-year-old children. Instead of respecting the Christians' views, the council dismissed their application. Terrible decision council.

Shhhh! Abstinence is popular
(August 19, 2010)
A taxpayer-funded survey that found 70% of teens and their parents believed that teens should wait until they are married before having sex is being withheld from the public, OneNewsNow reports. Valerie Huber, executive director of the National Abstinence Education Foundation, said a researcher who tried to get the full results of the survey could not get access. Huber is encouraging abstinence supporters to hold the Obama administration accountable by asking for the full report through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Pro-life T-shirt lawsuit settled
(August 17, 2010)
A California school district has paid $50,000 to settle a case with a sixth-grade girl over her T-shirt. In a blatant violation of the girl's rights, she was told to remove her pro-life T-shirt, which she wore on National Pro-Life T-Shirt Day, because it was allegedly “disruptive”. Attorneys for the young girl said the request violated her First, Fourth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights. Attorneys for the school district admitted no wrong, and said they paid the money to avoid a costly trial. And, no doubt, a lot more costly embarrassment.

Is Noah's Ark under thousands of feet of lava?
(August 16, 2010)
Despite frequent claims that Noah's Ark has been found, a geologist says he believes that the Ark was probably buried under thousands of feet of hot burning lava.

Global warming skeptics challenge climate science in court
(August 15, 2010)
Global warming skeptics in New Zealand are taking the government's climate science agency to court, accusing the government body of tampering with official weather records to promote a case for global warming. With masive errors found in claims by Al Gore and the IPCC, plus the ClimateGate scandal, plus the fact that a large number of climatologists don't believe humans are causing global warming anyway, we think skeptics who challenge the status quo on this have a reasonable chance of winning.

Philippines rejects abortion law
(August 15, 2010)
Filipino lawmakers and religious leaders have shown their support for human life by rejecting an appeal from pro-choice organizations that had urged Congress to pass a law allowing “safe and legal abortion.” God bless them for realizing that no abortion is safe for the innocent child.

We don't trust newspapers or TV, Gallup finds
(August 15, 2010)
Americans have nearly a record high distrust of news media, a Gallup Poll has found. The distrust seems to have begun in 2003, and has become worse since then, especially regarding television news. Interestingly, the highest level of trust in newspapers came from younger Americans (18 to 29) — the group least likely to read newspapers. Confidence in news media was hard to find in the poll, even among lefties who traditionally are least critical of news media. We are sure that NewsBusters and similar outlets that expose the liberal bias in the news media also have something to do with it.

Pro-lifer won't pay taxes because taxes fund abortions
(August 15, 2010)
The Canadian government has decided not to prosecute a man who refuses to pay taxes because he says they would fund abortions, which he says is a reprehensible use of his taxes. Pro-life activist David Little has not filed a tax return since 2000. Canada's attorney-general says he decided to not pursue Little because Little has almost no taxable income and federal funds can be better used elsewhere rather than fighting an expensive lawsuit that could go all the way to the Supreme Court. Can all pro-lifers try that?

Pastor defends church's plan to burn Korans on 9/11 anniversary
(August 14, 2010)
A Florida pastor has defended his church's decision to have a Koran burning on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center says his life has been threatened over the decision, but he feels his church has to stand up to Muslim terrorists and this is one way to show it. No stranger to controversy, Pastor Jones has written a book called Islam is of the Devil, and sells T-shirts with the same message.

Court: Christians can again share Gospel at Mt. Rushmore
(August 13, 2010)
A Christian who was stopped from handing out Gospel tracts near the Mount Rushmore National Memorial visitor center in 2007 has won a case against the U.S. Interior Department, the National Park Service, and five federal officials for restricting his First Amendment right of free speech. There have been a number of cases recently where Christians have been bullied over their beliefs. Fortunately many are not accepting this injustice under the guise of tolerance and have successfully fought back.

Boyfriend murders 17-year-old girl for refusing abortion
(August 12, 2010)
An 18-year-old youth has admitted murdering his pregnant teenage girlfriend in California because she wouldn't have an abortion. The girl had been missing for three months before her body was found last week in a container of garbage. OneNewsNow reports that the Elliot Institute says that incidents such as these are not uncommon. Many women face pressure to have abortions, and much of that coercion comes from the child's father. Abortion is the worst form of child abuse. [See our article Abortion: Why Christians oppose it.]

Don't Democrats want to be known as Democrats any more?
(August 11, 2010)
Are the Dems becoming so unpopular that even Dems don't want to be known as Dems? You would think so from a new ad by Democratic candidate Joe Donnelly from Indiana. He launched a tough ad against illegal immigration and the do-nothing Obama administration and Democratic congress. But nowhere in his ad does he mention the word “Democrat.” Another Dem, Brad Ellsworth, has also distanced himself from the increasingly unpopular Democrats. They can smell a bad November coming for the mid-term elections.

Gallup Poll analysis shows pro-life movement can expect election landslide
(August 10, 2010)
Good news for pro-life advocates heading into the 2010 mid-term elections. A Gallup review of presidential approval ratings shows that Presidents with low approval ratings, such as Barack Obama now has, usually lose a lot of seats in the House and Senate. Gallup says the pro-abortion Democrats who run Congress now are facing grim election prospects in November. As Michelle Malkin says on her Twitter page, “We can see November from our house.” Yes, indeed.

Students forced to pay for abortion-providing insurance
(August 10, 2010)
This is disgraceful. Students at the University of North Carolina who do not have or cannot afford their own private health insurance will have to buy into a state-selected health insurance plan that funds abortions, LifeSiteNews reports. Kristan Hawkins, Executive Director of Students for Life of America, said forcing students to pay for elective abortions was “appalling.” She has called on the North Carolina Board of Governors to reverse the policy immediately. “Paying for abortions should not be a pre-requisite to learning,” Hawkins said.

Dr. Alveda King takes another swipe at the NAACP
(August 10, 2010)
Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., says the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) needs to stop spreading claims about racism in the Tea Party, and instead take a good look at its own practices. OneNewsNow reported that Dr. King said claims by NAACP members that the Tea Party supports racism were “absurd.” Dr. King said the NAACP takes money from groups like Planned Parenthood, which King says promotes the genocide of black Americans.

Aussie election: Greens refuse to answer Christian questions
(August 10, 2010)
With the Australian federal election coming up on August 21, the Australian Christian Lobby asked the main parties a number of questions of interest to Christians. All the parties except the Greens answered all the questions, even when their position was not likely to win Christian support. The Greens are so anti-Christian that they tried to hide their position by refusing to answer 18 of the 24 questions. The Greens support euthanasia, abortion, gay marriage, and other non-Christian values. No wonder they tried to hide their policies.

Turning to Christ on deathbed would be pathetic, says atheist Hitchens
(August 7, 2010)
Prominent atheist Christopher Hitchens found out 2 months ago he had esophageal cancer, the same cancer his father died from. He woke up one morning in New York and thought he was dying. In an interview on CNN, Hitchens said he would never turn to Christ on his deathbed, and if people hear this rumor they should not believe it. But in a spontaneous outpouring of Christian concern, prayer groups have sprung up to pray that Hitchens changes his mind and comes to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ before it's too late.

Atheist logic
Design and intelligence are needed to create a pencil, but not a universe.

Is Al Gore the only one who cares about global warming now?
(August 7, 2010)
The alleged “progress” made at the Copenhagen climate talks last December is backsliding, judging by the lack of interest shown at recent talks in Bonn. After the ClimateGate scandal, the errors found in Al Gore's scary global warming film, and the baloney spread by the IPCC, most people simply no longer trust scientists or politicians who say humans are causing global warming. [See also our links page for global warming skeptics.]

School kids at creationist zoo upsets New Scientist writer
(August 6, 2010)
A zoo in Great Britain that promotes a creationist message has been approved as a destination for school trips by the government. When anti-creationist New Scientist writer Michael Marshall heard about this he nearly needed to be hospitalized. The zoo, Noah's Ark Zoo Farm, seems to be a superb resource for students to see animals first-hand, and it has earned a quality award. To a normal person, this is a wonderful place for kids to learn about animals. But grouchy evolutionists like Marshall have to warn people to stay away from creationist things in case they actually learn something.

Atheists get stressed thinking about God; Christians get calmer
(August 6, 2010)
Researchers have found that atheists become anxious when thinking about God, but Christians become calmer. Researchers at the University of Toronto-Scarborough conducted two experiments, which obviously delighted the religious people and upset the atheists. Now we wonder, would the atheists have been as upset if they had to think about a mythical creature like a leprechaun? We don't think so, and if they didn't, we suggest it's because everyone knows deep down there is a God, but because atheists consciously refuse to accept this, they get stressed. Let's have a leprechaun study.

Atheist logic
An intelligent, all-powerful God couldn't create the universe, but it could create itself.

Kenya rewards Obama with abortions and an Islamic Court
(August 5, 2010)
The Obama administration gave $23 million of U.S. taxpayers' money to influence voters in Kenya, President Obama's homeland of sorts, to support a constitutional referendum. The new Constitution legitimizes Islamic courts and, for the first time, allows for the destruction of unborn babies through abortion. A spokesman for Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., said, “It constitutes U.S. monetary interference in a sovereign nation's voting process. If passed the constitution would dramatically alter existing pro-life laws.” Time to terminate the Obama administration.

Focus on the Family lays off more than 100 more staff
(August 3, 2010)
The Christian ministry made famous by Dr. James Dobson, Focus on the Family, is laying off 110 more staff members this month, leaving it with 750 employees. This is almost half the staff it had 8 years ago. This year's budget for the ministry has dropped by one-quarter from last year. A spokesman said the cause may be the recession and the fact that Dr. Dobson left the ministry in February.

John the Baptist's tooth found?
(August 3, 2010)
Archaeologists think they have found the remains of John the Baptist in the ruins of a monastery on an island in the Black Sea. They found a tooth, part of a jaw, and part of an arm in a stone box in an altar of the monastery. Well, yes, it could be John the Baptist, but it could be someone else. We have no way of proving it. No-one has John's DNA or medical history, or a photo of him, or knows anyone in his family to ask about this. It's always safer to be skeptical of these types of claims until stronger evidence comes in.

Who stole the Face on Mars?
(August 3, 2010)
Like the Man on the Moon, the Face on Mars has turned out to be an illusion. In 1976 the Viking spacecraft took photos of Mars which, in one area, showed a human-like face. Had Mars once held a civilization like our own? Although we have been telling people for decades that this face had pretty much been proved to be nothing but shadows on a rocky formation (see our Face on Mars article), photography has improved incredibly since 1976, and the latest photographs show the “face” is nothing but a rocky mesa. Conspiracy theorists are now accusing NASA of altering the image.

What you say about others reveals your happiness level
(August 2, 2010)
If you are asked to describe someone, you'd better say something nice about them or you will be seen as an antisocial grouch who loves yourself. At least that is our interpretation of a study publicized in Science Daily. A Wake Forest University psychology professor found that happy people give positive descriptions of others, and grumpy people give negative descriptions. Now for the big question: Why do leftists all seem so miserable?

Is the Jordan River really unsafe for baptisms?
(August 2, 2010)
A truckload of reports this week said the Jordan River, where John the Baptist baptized 2000 years ago, was now so polluted it was unsafe for baptisms. Friends of the Earth said baptisms need to be stopped until water quality improves. But in an amazing coincidence, a water quality report was released last week that showed the opposite, according to Eli Dror of Israel's Nature and Parks Authority. Dror said, “There's absolutely no problem with the quality of the water.” For intending baptees, maybe you should take a diving outfit with a snorkel, just in case.

Why are lefties so miserable?
(August 2, 2010)
A blog from Melissa Clouthier on NewsBusters gave an analysis of sorts of why lefties are always so darn unhappy. Even with a lefty Prez, lefty Congress, most courts, and the old-style lefty media all on their side, they still all look like misery guts. Melissa comes up with a lot of reasons why lefties are miserable, but one of the big reasons seems to be that they have no-one to blame for their misery when they elect incompetent airheads to run the country. When the Republicans take back the reins next election, the lefties will be back to where they feel more comfortable: having someone else to blame.

Creation taught in religious lessons! Non-Christians don't like it
(August 2, 2010)
Creationism is being taught in some religious instruction (RI) classes in Queensland, Australia, and some non-Christians don't like it. We could equally say that creationists don't like evolution being taught as fact in school classes, but this recent publicity did highlight that some well-meaning religious instructors are giving wrong information in RI classes. We should point out that evolutionary indoctrination that defies basic scientific laws is also being taught in schools around the world. Are these same people complaining about this? Not in the slightest.

Compared to Obama, Bush was a genius
(August 2, 2010)
President Obama was elected on the wave of a promise of great things. But he has turned out to be a great disappointment.

Christian store owner talks robber out of stealing money
(July 31, 2010)
Although some Christians are afraid to talk about Jesus in general company, a South Florida store manager used Jesus talk to convince a would-be robber to leave empty-handed. The robber approached the store manager to look at a cell-phone. He then produced a weapon and told the manager to give him the money in the register. She told the robber that Jesus had something better for his life, and convinced him to leave without the cash or the phone.

Will Christians eventually be excluded from counseling?
(July 30, 2010)
A Baptist Press writer has noted a string of clashes in the counseling profession between the Christian view of homosexuality and the increasingly left-dominated view. Does this mean that conservative Christians eventually will be shut out of the profession? Pro-gay lefties are trying to make it happen.

Science literacy improves in Australia: Humans lived with dinosaurs
(July 30, 2010)
Just when young-earth creationists in Australia thought most people had been totally indoctrinated into evolutionary thinking, a pleasant surprise arrives from a science survey. Around one-third of people surveyed said they believe that dinosaurs and humans have lived at the same time. This of course is the correct answer according to the Bible, and it shows that a lot of people have not been brainwashed by the evolutionary establishment (the EE), even though the EE marked this response wrong.

Praying pro-lifers help mothers save babies
(July 27, 2010)
Residents in Rockford, Illinois, joined Catholic priests and other pro-lifers in silently praying outside an abortion clinic for the babies who were scheduled to be aborted, and for their mothers. Soon after the group began praying, a mother came out to talk to the counselors and decided to spare her baby from death. Then another mother came out and said that she too had now chosen to give her baby a future. Four mothers eventually chose life for their babies that day, and the group was elated that their prayers had been answered.
