FORMER PRESIDENT Bill Clinton noted in his speech to the Gridiron Dinner on March 20, 2010 that it was the start of spring, “otherwise known to Al Gore as proof of global warming.” (See Wall Street Journal, March 21, 2010.)

SOME people have asked for our view on climate change and global warming.

So let's get it straight — we are not climate change skeptics, because we know that the climate is always changing. But we do not believe humans are the chief cause of global warming, any more than humans were the chief cause of the Ice Age. We are legitimate doubters of anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming.

In fact, Professor Phil Jones, director of the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit in Britain (who was pressured to resign after the 2009 Climategate scandal), has conceded that the earth could have been warmer in medieval times. This would mean:

  1. Current human activity such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation did not cause warming in the past so are not necessarily the cause of warming now.
  2. The earth can recover quickly from warming with no human help (medieval warming was followed by a mini ice age from around AD 1400 until about 1850).

Below are definitions of the main groups of players in the global warming debate, followed by links to news reports, videos clips, and articles about or produced by others who do not accept global warming alarmism, and news items related to bad climate research. However, we do not necessarily endorse everything these others say. This list simply shows the global warming debate is not settled, and a lot of what you hear from global warming alarmists is not even true.

Definitions
Anthropogenic global warming (AGW) — the view that humans are causing global warming.
Global warming alarmist (GWA) — someone who is alarmed by the fact that the earth may be getting warmer, or someone who tries to terrify or intimidate others into being alarmed by that view.
Global warming skeptic (GWS) — someone who does not accept that humans are the cause, or main cause, of global warming.
Global warming denier (GWD) — someone who does not believe the earth is getting significantly hotter.
Legitimate doubter of anthropogenic global warming (LDAGW) — someone who is convinced there is enough scientific evidence against human-caused global warming to legitimately doubt either that there is a problem or that humans can do anything about it.
Climate change skeptic (CCS) — someone who doubts that the climate is changing. In reality, nearly everyone knows the climate changes, so this label is usually wrongly applied to global warming skeptics or legitimate doubters.
Climate change denier (CCD) — technically this is someone who does not believe that the climate is changing. In reality, nearly everyone knows the climate changes, so people who label others as climate change deniers usually don't realize they should be calling them global warming deniers.
